Stella is a 15 year old fine young lady who is the oldest of 3 children living in poverty in one of our nearby cities in the Sarasota/Manatee county area. Her Mom and Dad work very hard but earn minimum wage with no benefits. They can never be certain what days they will work and how many hours making it very difficult to plan or budget income. They are a family of five living in a 700 square foot home in the rear of two other almost shack-type homes. The children have no place to play except when they are taken to a nearby park, so they spend most of their hours cramped in this tiny apartment. Stella is in her first year of high school and TFTLB purchases all her uniforms and school supplies. She works very hard to maintain good grades and is giving serious consideration to going to college.
